The 2022 Holiday Card Competition Begins

If comparative living on social media isn’t enough, now the printed version begins with the sending and receiving of holiday cards. All those uber-happy faces staring back at us from the refrigerator door or bulletin board let us know just how dismal our average life is.

Most of these folks we love and cherish, but there are always a few creepers that come through.

What to do? Shred them? OH, THAT IS WAY TOO HARSH. Okay, no shredding, but into the recycle bin you go buddy! Or, maybe just the bottom of the pile.

Didn’t know your friend walked the red carpet with JLo? You do now. How to keep up? Don’t even try. Just do your best to put that little envious ego away until January when the cards come down with the falling snow, and the peace of winter arrives.

As a former portrait photographer who made a lot of money producing these cards for many years, I always have to laugh at myself as I do my best to put together a simple card for our family.

I guess it’s like the shoemaker whose kids have no shoes syndrome, but it all seems like so much extra work to me, that I’m not getting paid for.

And, for someone who’s been known for fine photography but has to go through the phone files to collect a few decent…
